She also volunteered at Fall and Spring pictures and helped chaperoned the 3rd Grade Field Trip. Alison has also ended a hand at book fair, vision and hearing, craft days and class parties. Alicia Thompson did an amazing job at our Fall Book Fair. Students shopped the event with parents and had a special grandparent's lunch. Our first book fair raised money for our library above and beyond our expectations. Teachers also had wish list and parents purchased books for their classrooms. Thank you Alicia for your handwork. On October 7, 2015, French had the privilege to host the Klein ISD VIP Luncheon for VIP's around the school district. Among attendance were Dr. Cain, Klein's Superintendent, Elementary Principals and PTO Presidents from around the district, and the Klein ISD Volunteer of the Month, our very own PTO President, Lori Lund, as well as many other VIPs.
Amanda Abetz, PTO Parliamentarian, worked hard to organize the event, with the help of many other PTO volunteers. Mrs. Mason requested a "French Themed" luncheon, therefore the centerpieces included Eiffel Towers, along with a French word or saying, i.e. "MERCI"! The placemats were created by French Elementary students in art class. They recreated a variety of famous French paintings using watercolors. Each placemat was unique and beautiful! In fact, several Klein ISD employees loved them so much that they took them back to their offices to show off! Way to go, Racers!
Klein ISD food service's catering department provided the "French Themed" meal including croissants, quiche, fruit salad, and a green salad. The meal was rounded off with a wonderful chocolate mousse! Thank you for filling our VIPs stomachs with a wonderful meal!
We had to opportunity to show off how extraordinary our Racers are with a skit that reenacted the historical events in Jamestown by a group of 5th graders. These students were proud to show of their knowledge of what they learned in the classroom! We also had the honor of watching our French Choir perform! The choir consists of 4th and 5th grade French students led by our music teachers, Ms. Massa and Ms. Gunhouse. The students did a fabulous job, and we were so impressed that they had only practiced a few times prior to their performance for so many VIPs! Linked above is the French Racers Spirit Song as performed by the French Elementary Choir.
Thank you to all who contributed to make the VIP Luncheon a successful event! It was an honor to show off our wonderful school, faculty, staff, students, and volunteers!
